I would be interested in hearing experiences in creating small "sabbaticals" to keep you energized and learning until it is time for a longer sabbatical.
It seems like a sabbatical mindset would involve always been alert to new opportunities to take meaningful break---even a minute to reflect might increase productivity and insight---

I was able to take time away from running a sales agency to attend experiential classes, workshops and seminars for one to two weeks that kept me inspired, refreshed and re-energized to continue to grow my business. The ideas I brought back were helpful to the personal development of my employees as well as keeping my life in balance.

You bring up an excellent point Deanna. We don't consider any thing less than 4 weeks away from your career a "true sabbatical." But "mini-sabbaticals" - ahhhh. Now that's possible for many of us whether your company has a sabbatical program or not.
A blog series will start in the next 2-3 weeks on "the mini-sabbatical" - how to disconnect and create a "sabbatical" experience in those small blocks of time you talk about. Thanks for a great lead in to the topic!
